For those of you who maybe didn't know this, I started homeschooling after Christmas break.
Back in November I started thinking very seriously about it. Brock was going to be starting 6th grade next year and I have always wanted to have my kids home for junior high. I thought it would be a good idea to give it a try now while he finished 5th grade, just in case it wasn't the best idea and then I could start him with everyone else for 6th.
In the meantime I decided if I am going to take out Brock, why not take out Zack and Parker too!
We have absolutely loved the new schedule and are really having fun being together. The boys are all working very hard for me and I am so proud of them. Anytime I suggest that they may want to go back to school, they immediately reply,"NO, NO, NO!" I am so grateful they feel that way.
We go on at least one field trip a week. They have at least 2 play dates a week and we try to go swimming at the YMCA once a week. They enjoy the perks of homeschooling, and I try to make it fun for them.
The state of WA is very supportive of homeschooling and they offer a program where the kids can go to a "tech" school and take anywhere from 1 to 5 classes up to 2 days a week. My kids go to "homeworks" on Thursdays and love taking their fun classes and hanging out with their new friends. They really feel they have the best of both worlds! Through the homeworks program they offer a curriculum reimbursement that I love!
Bottom line, I love being the greater influence in my children's lives. I love that they now can get the one on one teaching that will allow them to excel at their own speed. We have our hard days, but overall I can't imagine going back!
